Imprest and Finance

Imprest and Finance

The increased emphasis in the public sector to achieve greater and greater efficiencies has placed significant pressure on finance departments to control spending.

As a result, managing the finances of projects has become more critical and accurate, up to date management information based on current and forecast positions is essential.

The traditional way of capturing this information has had a number of drawbacks. Typically the reporting required from the project managers was seen as an imposition and overhead, leading to patchy quality and late or non-existent data.

The way the information was gathered was time consuming, using spreadsheets that had evolved over time and which had no rigorous testing, security or version control. This meant that when the information was presented, it was often inaccurate and out of date. Any formal review carried unnecessary additional risk.

Why
Imprest?

Imprest combines a set of tools aimed at making the life of the people working at a project level easier, together with top-down reporting. By doing this Imprest is able to provide more timely, accurate information at a consolidated level. This enables accurate measurement and monitoring of the portfolio and drill down to any level, as well as easy reconciliation with the financial system.

Imprest
gives a consolidated "at-a-glance" view of cashflow and funding, enabling strategic decisions to be made.

Imprest is scaleable to enable light or detailed financial management of each project, ensuring the right level of detail is available for each project.

Imprest
can be interfaced with the financial system, enabling the actual amount of spend for each project to be updated within the Imprest cashflow and consolidated across multiple programmes and portfolios. This helps to keep project financial information up to date and removes risk of errors through double entry.
