Local Government - Programmes & Projects

The comprehensive spending review in 2010 and the continued economic pressure within Local Government has created the need for significant transformation. This has lead to large scale re-structuring as Councils prepare to deliver services with reduced funding and resources.

As a consequence, there is increasing pressure for more effective delivery of your capital programme, driven by:

  • increased scrutiny and complexity of financial reporting from within the Authority.
  • the need for more efficient management and tighter control of project management.
  • the need to ensure projects are aligned with the strategic vision of the Council.
  • the need to deliver value and to be able to demonstrate delivery.
  • the need to save money.

This has driven, amongst other things, the creation of cross-departmental programme or project portfolio offices. The logical areas for these offices to target are:

  • establishing a common project methodology, usually based on the PRINCE2 method.
  • introducing consistent standards for project management and reporting in order to improve transparency and auditability of information.
  • the introduction of a supporting software tool-kit

If implemented well, the software can greatly help facilitate the change to the Authority’s new way of working and ensure consistent and repeatable business processes are maintained.

DataVisibility's
Imprest software provides such capabilities and is currently being used by many Authorities to help them achieve more effective management of their programme. Our software, combined with our significant implementation experience, can help you meet the challenges ahead.
